Why is Poop Brown?

Boing Boing provides an answer to this question posed, as are most of the best questions , by a toddler.

Apparently it is all down to something called stercobilin which is a byproduct of bile. Without it poop would be an off white grayish color. The comments are well worth a read and one even takes the explanation of why stercobilin is brown. This involves photons and other physics type stuff.

Wordpress 2.9 New Features

The latest version of Wordpress, 2.9 is now being rolled out and there are a couple of new toys. Nothing earth shattering but solid.

The latest version of the self-hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.org) – version 2.9 – has just been rolled out to users.

This release is called “Carmen” and includes a number of notable additions, including the beginnings of a WordPress image editing tool (cropping, scaling, and rotating), simpler video embeds, and batch plugin updating that should save you a bunch of time.
